Garrow Throop, graduate of RISD, spent his career in advertising and graphic design. He started on Madison Avenue in NYC during the “Mad Men” era. He later opened a design studio in Boston. He lives in Newton with his wife, Amelia LeClair.
He brings that experience of over 40 years to this portfolio of mixed media images which combine photography with a variety of other applications including watercolor, oil, texture, and more.
“I love the balance between the reality of photography and the fantasy of watercolor. While photographers often try to make their image look abstract, watercolorists often strive to make their work look more real. I attempt to combine the best of both words.”
Throop has been a full time summer resident in Truro for the last 33 years. He continues to enjoy photography, design, video, glass blowing, fabric design and exploring other visual media.
